Phillipines (Benguet)

Phillipines Program Background

We headed to Banguio City to improve the welfare of working horses, which historically experienced a lack of accessible veterinary care. A collaborative Working Equid Health & Welfare Program was brought together by IVO, Benguet State University College of Veterinary Medicine (BSU-CVM), the Baguio City Vet Office, local horse handler associations, and community volunteers.

Program Start Year: 2023

Our Work

A collaborative Working Equid Health & Welfare Program was brought together by IVO, Benguet State University College of Veterinary Medicine (BSU-CVM), the Baguio City Vet Office, local horse handler associations, and community volunteers.

The program offered hands-on learning for veterinary students from BSU-CVM and provided routine wellness care to over 250 horses previously without adequate veterinary services.

Relationships between local veterinarians, veterinary students, and horse handling communities were strengthened, resulting in a successful follow-up vaccination clinic. This collaboration not only improved immediate care but sets the stage for ongoing partnerships to improve veterinary services for working horses.
